Thomas Jefferson and John Adams

Let me tell you the story of an amazing coincidence of numbers. In fact, this is so perfect that many people don’t believe it. They write it off as fictional folklore. But it is true.
We have to go back to the birth of this country. Back to the 13 colonies, and the time of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, and the two men in our story: Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.
Their relationship went back and forth between the best of friends to long angry silences. A relationship that ended with an astonishing final turn of the hour-glass. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were there together when the young American colonies began to take on the king of England. They stood side by side to rally against Britain and unfair taxes and the whims of a mad dictator an ocean away.
Can you imagine how exciting that must have been? Speaking your mind. Calling out for justice and independence in the year that became the most important number in our history: 1776. A number that connected these two men in a way that would ultimately seem unbelievable.
These two giants of America remained true and sincere friends throughout their entire lives. They wrote hundreds of letters to each other. Eventually, both men grew sick and frail at the same time. They both took to their beds in the heat of summer. They each knew the other was dying and demanded to be kept updated on their friend’s health. Each man wanted to live longer than the other. Jefferson died first. Three hours later, John Adams passed away.
It’s a Little Known Fact, and quite a coincidence, that these two men, bound together at America’s birth, should die on the same day. It becomes all the more amazing when you discover that they both died on July 4th, 1826, exactly fifty years to the day after they both signed the Declaration of Independence.
