I can't fathom why there is such a panic.  This article come from the UK and so far 27 people are alleged to have died from Swine flu, but nothing is said about underlying medical problems.  If this figure was 27,000 there would be cause for concern.  But more than 27 people die from household accidents, more die in highway accidents, and so on, but you don't see this level of panic over it.

There is a saying in the military that goes like this.  "Military Intel people are scared for a living."  I say that that mentality has been carried over into the medical community at large.

We have to face the facts.  If a real bad virus gets loose in the world there is nothing we can do about it, but let it run its course.  If the virus kills millions or even billions of humans we'll just have to buck up and bear it.  Yes I know that's easy to say if you're not one of the sick or dead, but nevertheless I'm telling you how it is and not how you'd like it to be.

Basti note:  I received this as an e-mail and while it does not have a link the story is true.  I remember posting the story about the ‘Kenyan in Chiefs’ proposal to screw the US Military with his asinine health care plan.  Most of the people who are in charge in this screwed up administration have never worn this nations uniform and never will.  Most are cowards of the 1st water and greedy Marxist liars as well.  There is nothing so reprehensible as screwing the very people who defend their sorry asses!

Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty.

The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal.
 
“Look, it’s an all volunteer force,” Obama complained. “Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the  risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn’t compute.  I thought these were  people who were proud to sacrifice for their country.”  Obama continued. “I  wasn’t asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I’d have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation’s deficit. I guess I  underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans.”

If this ‘ASS in Charge’ thinks he will ever get another vote from an Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard service member or veteran of a military service he ought to think it over. WASHINGTON, DC (March 16, 2009) The leader of the nation’s largest veterans organization says he is “deeply disappointed and concerned” after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered  service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.
       
“It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan,” said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion.  “He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.”
       
The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, “This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ‘to care for him who shall have borne the battle.’ given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm’s way, and not private insurance companies.  I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America’s veterans!”
       
Commander Rehbein was among a group of senior officials from veterans service organizations joining the President, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki and Steven Kosiak, the overseer of defense spending at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The group’s early afternoon conversation at The White House was precipitated by a letter of protest presented to the President earlier this month. The letter, co-signed by Commander Rehbein and the heads of ten colleague organizations, read, in part, “ There is simply no logical explanation for billing a veteran’s personal insurance for care that the VA has a responsibility to provide.  While we understand the fiscal difficulties this country faces right now, placing the burden of those fiscal problems on the men and women who have already sacrificed a great deal for this country is unconscionable.”

Commander Rehbein reiterated points made last week in testimony to both House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committees.  It was stated then that The American Legion believes that the reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate that VA treat service-connected injuries and disabilities given that the United States government sends members of the armed forces into harm’s way, and not private insurance companies. The proposed requirement for these companies to reimburse the VA would not only be unfair, says the Legion, but would have an adverse impact on service-connected disabled veterans and their families.  The Legion argues that, depending on the severity of the medical conditions involved, maximum insurance coverage limits could be reached through treatment of the veteran’s condition alone. That would leave the rest of the family without health care benefits.  The Legion also points out that many health insurance companies require deductibles to be paid before any benefits are covered.  Additionally, the Legion is concerned that private insurance premiums would be elevated to cover service-connected disabled veterans and their families, especially if the veterans are self-employed or employed in small businesses unable to negotiate more favorable across-the-board insurance policy pricing.  The American Legion also believes that some employers, especially small businesses, would be reluctant to hire veterans with service-connected disabilities due to the negative impact their employment might have on obtaining and financing company health care benefits.
       
“I got the distinct impression that the only hope of this plan not being enacted,” said Commander Rehbein, “is for an alternative plan to be developed that would generate the desired $540-million in revenue. The American Legion has long advocated for Medicare reimbursement to VA for the treatment of veterans. This, we believe, would more easily meet the President’s financial goal.  We will present that idea in an anticipated conference call with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel in the near future.
       
“I only hope the administration will really listen to us then.  This matter has far more serious ramifications than the President is imagining,” concluded the Commander.

Police chiefs to be arraigned on multiple charges

Suspects head to court Friday in case of celebrity surrogate break-in

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Special Prosecutor T. Shawn Hervey has confirmed that two local police chiefs and a third man will be arraigned Friday morning before Judge John Solovan in Belmont County.

Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter, Bridgeport Police Chief Chad Dojack and Bruce Callarick, the son of Bridgeport Mayor John Callarick, will be in court at 8:15 a.m. on a variety of charges stemming from an investigation of the alleged break-in at the home of a surrogate mother in Martins Ferry in May.

The woman, Michelle Ross, was pregnant with the twin daughters of actress Sarah Jessica Parker and actor Matthew Broderick at the time of the alleged crime. The children were born in Martins Ferry on June 22.

Carpenter is facing a total of six charges while Dojack’s charges total three. Callarick is facing one charge. Authorities are expected to serve warrants on the trio sometime today.

All three men were booked into the Belmont County Jail on Wednesday night and released.

Hervey indicated a press conference will be held immediately following the indictments.

This whole incident happened about 20 miles from where I live.  I’ve not seen this story carried nationally, so I’ve decided to remedy that.

Now while I don’t know if the charges are true or not the unbelievable nature of the alleged crime is just that unbelievable.  (Apparently Belmont Country thinks there is something to all this)  What would possess respected police officers to do this?  How much money could you make?  How the hell do you think you’re going to get away with it?

Seldom am I astounded by anything, as I’m a cynic from way back, but this one caught me off guard.  I simply don’t understand!

Obama’s ignorant attack on cops

Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates Jr.’s arrest outside his home July 16 has triggered a familiar media frenzy on the topic of race and policing. Nothing that has emerged to date suggests that Cambridge, Mass., police Sgt. James Crowley was motivated by racial bias in arresting Gates on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

The broader discussion about whether the police in general are biased has been in turn characterized by two standard lacunae: Silence about minority crime rates and about the massive benefits to urban neighborhoods from proactive policing.

This latter omission is particularly unfortunate. Public safety is the absolute precondition for reviving city economies once the recession starts to ease. President Barack Obama’s reckless embrace of discredited ACLU stereotypes about police last week puts that precondition at risk.

In the many inner-city police-community meetings that I have attended, from the Bronx, N.Y., to South Los Angeles, I have never witnessed complaints about police brutality or racial profiling. Instead, I hear, “We want more police and more law enforcement activity.” Ghetto residents desire the same quality of life and freedom from fear enjoyed by residents of more affluent areas.

OK I’m going to examine what I know or what I think I know about this incident.

The cops weren’t just driving by and saw a black guy apparently breaking into a house.  No a 3rd party called and ‘reported what seemed to be crime in progress’.

The cops show up and sure enough it looks like a B & E in progress.

At this point Gates recount of the incident and the cops account diverge.  The cops of course want to know what the hell is going on.  Gates apparently goes into a tirade about racist cops and the cops mother gets dragged into it.

The cops are now of course not very happy.  However if it had stopped here I believe it would have been over.  Gates however wasn’t having that and he contented his tirade until he was arrested.

Why was Gates so outrage over an action that should have brought praise?  Because Gates is a Harvard professor with a history of cop baiting and a history of supporting Communism over  ‘Fascist America’.

Gates believes he’s above cops, above the law and he’s a racist.  The racist bit is really funny because according to an article I saw today Gates is distantly related to an Irish Warlord.

The entire incident would have been a non-starter if Gates had just remained cool, explained what was happening and the cops verified his story.  However the ‘race card’ must be played by some no matter the circumstances.

Then ‘His High and Mightiness’ had to weigh in on something he didn’t know a damn thing about as is his usual wont.  I don’t mind anyone being racist as long as they have the balls to admit it.  However neither Gates nor BHO have the guts to admit they hate half of themselves as they both are at least half white.

US jury favors hospital that deported immigrant 

MIAMI — A hospital that sent a seriously brain injured illegal immigrant back to Guatemala — over the objections of his family and legal guardian — did not act unreasonably, a jury found Monday.

Deputy Court Clerk Carol Harper said the unanimous six-member jury found in favor of the hospital and against the guardian of 37-year-old Luis Jimenez, a Mayan Indian from Guatemala.

Health care and immigration experts across the country have closely watched the court case in the sleepy, coastal town of Stuart. The hospital had cared for Jimenez, who was uninsured, for three years. But it was unable to find any nursing home to take him permanently because his immigration status meant the government would not reimburse his care.

White House ridicules Obama birth certificate issue as ‘made up, fictional nonsense’…

I’m shocked I never imagined that the White House would admit that the birth certificate for ‘The Kenyan in Charge’ was made up fictional nonsense.  (If it were proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that ‘The Kenyan in Charge’ was not born a US citizen what do you think would happen then?  Cue sound of crickets chirping.  That’s right nothing would happen because ‘The Kenyan in Charge’ is black and that’s the reason he was elected in the 1st place.  The ‘powers that be’ wanted a black in the White House and that’s what they got.  And never mind that the black is an unqualified non-American and a Communist)
