The ‘Same Old Way’ Or Not

Recently the Net has been alive with talk about change and how people in the US are tired of doing things the ‘same old way’.  The ‘same old way’ being putting America first, not signing any treaties that would hamper US actions, protecting our borders, and allowing business to be business and government to be government.

Well if you look at how the US has been run since before WWII you’ll see that the US hasn’t been run the ‘same old way’.  We’ve signed treaties that hamper US actions, we don’t put America first, protecting our borders is somehow Un-American,  and you can’t tell the business people from the government people without a score card.

We aren’t tired of doing things the ‘same old way’!  What we’re tired of is ‘doing the some old thing  the wrong way’.

How the hell is protecting US borders Un-American?  I mean that is something that has always been done by nations since there have been nations.  The nations that did not protect their borders soon weren’t nations at all.  The Roman Empire is a glaring example of that.

Business relocates to another country, so the US loses those jobs and can’t wait to allow shoddy products to be imported into the US by the business who relocated.  Why allow this?  It’s not in the best interests of the US.

We signed the ‘Geneva Accords’ in regards to POWS.  We more than abided by these rules during WWII, Korea, and V/Nam.  The enemy did not.  So why the hell are we still abiding by these rules?

We have had people in government go out of their way to suck up to foreign despots. (See Saudi Arabia and China for perfect examples)  Meanwhile we natter on about democracy and people ruling themselves and we know its not true.

Now we have a POTUS who takes ‘victory laps’ around the world while doing his ‘shuck and jive’ routine.  Not only does he make a fool of himself, but in the process he makes a fool of all Americans.

So yes we do need ‘change’.  We need to ‘change’ the way we do the ‘same old thing’ so that the ‘same old thing’ is really what we’re doing.  Put the USA first and when that’s taken care of we’ll discuss what others might want and they can have what they want as long as its doesn’t infringe on what the USA wants.  What the US has done in the last 60 or so years is not the actions of a nation that puts its self interest first.  Nations who do this soon go out of the ‘nation-state-business’ and either disintegrate or are swallowed up by other nations.
