Today’s Tidbits
January 31st, 2009 . by BastiNearly 1M without power 5 days after ice storm
And this was just an ice storm and snow. If Americans believe that this nation can/will handle a truly nationwide disaster like disease, earthquakes, or terrorist attacks they are sadly mistaken.
‘RECOVERY WILL TAKE YEARS, NOT MONTHS’
The supposed ‘cure’ of throwing more money at a problem that has its roots in greed, seems like a no-brainier to me.
As for the huge bonuses business has been awarding itself I warned several years ago that if business did not police their own house people were going to demand that government do it. Well the demand has been made and ‘Socialism’ in the shape of ‘Dear Leader’ on a white horse is preparing to do battle with evil corporate America. Sadly its all a matter of greed, if the greed could just be controlled a bit we’d not be in the fix we’re in now.
White House Lawyers Look to Limit Commercial Use of President…
Translation: “We’ve got to rein this in before we lose a lot of money.”
CNN T-shirts: ‘Obama raises his hand, lifts a nation’…
Vaguely I seem to remember some history about some men raising their hands in Germany or Italy. Can’t seem to recall the exact circumstances, however I do recall it ended in a very bad way.
Roubini: ‘Risk of a near-depression shouldn’t be underestimated’…
‘Risk of near depression you say!‘ I was warning of a ‘depression of epic proportions’ in late Spring of last year. I was told I didn’t know WTF I was talking about. Well I’ve got another warning for you. “Ya ain’t seen nothing yet. It’s going to get much worse and the ‘stimulus package’ is going to accelerate the snowball effect.”
Here is an old post I made in March of 2008 when the pundits were still telling us it was OK. The link still works.
Wall Street May Be Facing ‘Up to $460 Billion Credit Losses’…
You know whats going to happen the credit crunch and the sub-prime dog-and-pony-show don’t you? It’s all going to be kicked around from pillar to post, the pol’s will make countless speeches, and some trivial laws will be passed. Then one day it will just be gone, just like the S & L scandal of years gone by, the crash of 29, the Panic of 93 and so on back to when humans first invented money. Nothing ever changes when it comes to money as the driving force is always to obtain more money no matter who or what has to be thrown under the bus.
What will the Bend Over Republicans do with tax cheat Tom Daschle?
Oh I expect the Repub’s will shoot a little pool, drink some top shelf booze, then kiss some more Dem Marxist booty then do a little soft shoe number before babbling some more political rhetoric about ‘bipartisanship’.
Rangel, Other Reps, Party in Caribbean With Citi Funds
The US is rapidly approaching the ‘tip-off point’ that was reached in France just prior to the French Revolution. We have an ‘elitist government in D.C.’ who wants to control every facet of citizens rights while throwing citizen tax dollars at every off-the-wall program that can be ‘earmarked’. We have a POTUS who seems to think that he’s some kind of ‘miracle worker’, yet he’s never done anything to justify this. We have mayors and governors screaming that their cities and states are broke while the graft and fraud continue unabated. We have ‘food police, speech police, gun police, salt police, tans-fat police, green police, carbon dioxide police, etc, etc, etc’. The only way any of this can be put right is for a wholesale ‘sea change’ in the attitude of American citizens toward elected and appointed leaders. If we don’t hold political and appointed leaders accountable for their actions under threat of the ‘most severe of penalties’ then we’re doomed.
