The Slobbering Sycophants of the MSM

“There was a time, after all, when Americans actually had a rather high opinion of those who brought us the news in a fair and reasonably objective manner, and when editors and publishers didn’t allow their opinions to bleed all over the rest of the newspaper.  But those days are long gone.  Today, nobody trusts print or television journalists”.

Actually the ‘myth’ of media objectivity and non-biased reporting goes back to before the founding of the American Republic.  Yellow-journalism in the US is a time honored tradition.  Read any major newspaper from any era in American history and you will find not so much ‘facts’ as ‘opinion offered as facts’.  Then with the electronic media the likes of Walter Cronkite began to appear.  Once Cronkite had stated that the ‘war was lost in Vietnam’ Americans actually began to belive that was a ‘fact’ and ‘not an opinion’.  The media in the US has always been the tool of various political agendas.  Right now MSM is firmly in the pocket of the Left, but with falling readership for the papers and less viewership of news on TV that may change in the near future.  The media if they do nothing else will scramble to save the bottom line.
