The Democrat Convention Was a Three-ring Circus

The DNC CNC was exactly what I expected to see.  It was filled with meaningless rhetoric.  Silly photo-ops.  Hillary Clinton’s bitter pinch faced visage.  Obama’s smarmy Dumbo-eared visage.  And last, but hardly least it was filled with the beguiled unwashed faithful as they waited with baited breath for the Messiah to perform another miracle.  Never mind he’s yet to perform even one miracle.

Barack Obama: Aspiring Commissar

Stick an AK-47 in his upraised fist, a black beret on his head and you have the perfect picture of a Commie from the 60’s and 70’s.

Conservatives find the girl of their dreams…

We all know of course that any campaign for POTUS isn’t really about qualifications or fitness for the office, as its all about looks and appeal.  This has been so since TV’s came on the seen in large numbers.  Do you really think Lincoln would have been elected with his looks if TV had been around then?  The Dem’s Commies played their trump card with ‘Barack Hussein Obama’.  Now the Repub’s RINO’S have countered with their trumps card in Palin.  (And then we wonder why the rest of the world thinks we’re shallow and obsessed with looks)

Where Are the Protesters of Russia’s Attack on Georgia?

Where are Cindy Sheehan and the other anti-war protesters, demonstrating against Russia’s attack on Georgia?  So far, we have not seen anyone in front of the Russian Embassies in Washington, D.C. or New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or elsewhere in the other bastions of liberalism around the country.  Are they still against war, or are they only opposed to wars in which America is involved, such as Iraq and which, presumably, are our fault?

There have been a great many protests around the world in opposition to the war in Iraq, including a mass gathering in Washington, D.C., where some 200,000 demonstrators are reported to have rallied.  Thousands of people have staged anti-war protests against America’s involvement in Iraq in other locations.  “Between 2002 and 2005, protests were held in many cities worldwide, often coordinated to occur simultaneously…These demonstrations against the war were mainly organized by anti-war organizations, many of whom had been formed in opposition to the invasion of Afghanistan.  In some Arab countries demonstrations were organized by the State.  Europe saw the biggest mobilization of protesters, including a rally of 3 million people in Rome…According to the French academic Dominique Reynie, between January 3 and April 12, 2003, 36 million people across the globe took part in almost 3,000 protests against the Iraq war.” (Wikipedia).

Other protests were recently staged by anti-war activists include:

Ø    On March 19, 2008, Iraq war protesters were “out in force” in Washington, D.C., on the fifth anniversary of the start of the war.

Ø    In May, 2008, Iraq war protesters interrupted a speech John McCain was delivering at the University of Denver.

Ø    On August 11 of this year, thirteen people participated in a 450-mile walk to protest the war in Iraq and attempted to enter Fort McCoy, in Wisconsin.

So, where are the anti-war protesters now–when the people of Georgia need their support?  Is it acceptable for Russia to use military force against a smaller neighboring state and attempt to impose control of its government?

Perhaps it’s too soon, but somehow I don’t expect to see any demonstrations against Russia’s attack on the Georgian people, and I wonder why not?

Is it too much to expect the same people who oppose America’s involvement in the Iraq war to also stage protests against Russia for its attack on Georgia?  Or how about China’s brutal occupation of Tibet?  Where are the American protesters in front of China’s embassies, showing solidarity with the Tibetan people?

Look around the world and see who is repressing and brutalizing whom.  Some examples that immediately come to mind are: Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe, Muslim genocide in Darfur and the Mullahs in Iran, Hamas in Palestine and Hezbollah in Lebanon attacking Israel, to name a few.  The list is endless.  The United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Refugees has reported that 26 million people are currently displaced in their own countries.

So, where are the protesters?  They seem to be everywhere, demonstrating at meetings of the G-8, the World Bank, NAFTA, the IMF and other international organizations, but never at the doorsteps of the most repressive governments on earth.

Why is it that whenever and wherever there is an opportunity to protest against America, anti-war protesters are Johnny-on-the-spot, but are AWOL when it comes to the killing and/or brutalizing of people by other governments around the world?

I often wonder about the psychology of protesters.  What is it that makes them angry enough to take the streets, cause extensive property damage, confront authorities,, and injure or kill people? Are they just hostile by nature?

The cause seems to be a mixed bag of grievances, ranging from opposing “world government” to anti-war crusaders, to opponents of nuclear power, to saving the world from global warming and a host of other perceived threats to mankind, animals, and Mother Earth.  People roost in trees for weeks at a time to resist having them cut down, and anarchists–who believe there should be no government–demonstrate against all authority.  Name your grievance and no doubt you can find a group of like believers somewhere to join and vent your frustrations.

Could it be something in the water?  Is it a disposition that has it roots in one’s upbringing, education, and/or training?

Whatever the reason, I contend that it’s hypocritical for anti-war activists to demonstrate, often violently, against America’s involvement in wars without also actively protesting the military actions of other governments around the world.

People should be protesting Russia’s naked aggression in Georgia.

The Left had been in love with Russia since the days of Lenin and the love affair continues.  And you’ll notice that 99.99% of protests are by the Left, but the Left never eats its own.

In New Orleans, no shelter for those who stay

Yer on yer own!  And given the last debacle I see that as a good thing.

Acquittal of ex-Marine sparks debate over law

Quote:  Some members of the civilian jury that acquitted a former Marine accused of war crimes in Iraq say they weren’t qualified to judge actions in combat, and military and legal experts said the case raises serious questions about whether federal prosecutors should even pursue such cases.

No one is qualified to judge the actions of others in a combat situation, unless they were there and saw it all go down.  It’s one thing to set in your recliner and pontificate on should have and shouldn’t have and its another thing altogether to have your ass on the line and split seconds to make decisions.  When in doubt shoot first and don’t ask any questions.

Liberals and the Control of the University

Liberals. Communists, Progressives, etc, etc, etc have know since the early 1800’s that if you can control what people are taught in colleges, universities, and schools you can control their politics later in life.  Some how this fact seems to have escaped the Right Wingers, Conservatives, etc until late in the 20th Century.

McCain’s Surprise V.P. Choice

McCain’s Surprise V.P. Choice

Alaska’s Gov. Palin Targets Those Stung By Clinton’s Loss

Sen. John McCain chose first-term Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, little known on the national stage, as his vice-presidential running mate — a surprise stroke aimed at attracting Hillary Clinton supporters, but which could undercut the campaign’s key theme of experience.

Sen. McCain passed over many high-profile, more conventional choices for the job, turning to a woman whose solid conservative positions thrilled the Republican base. Her reputation as a reformer in Alaska dovetails with Sen. McCain’s image, too. As a small-town mayor, she took on her own party elders to run for governor in 2006, as an FBI corruption probed rocked the state’s political establishment.

But the 44-year-old’s thin political résumé also thrilled some Democratic strategists, given Sen. McCain’s criticism of the experience of his opponent, Sen. Barack Obama. They were quick to note that Sen. McCain turned 72 Friday and would be the oldest person to enter the White House, yet he is trying to put a heartbeat from the Oval Office a woman who has spent less time in the governors’ mansion than Sen. Obama has in the Senate. Just two years ago, she was mayor of Wasilla, a town of 9,780 people.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said the choice of Gov. Palin takes the experience question “off the table.”

Social conservatives, already wary of Sen. McCain, worried he would choose someone who — like himself — hasn’t consistently championed their agenda. Many strongly praised the choice, especially because Gov. Palin strongly opposes abortion rights. But not all Republicans were sanguine about the political dynamics. Despite recent polls showing a close race, the campaign “clearly felt like they needed to shake this race up and go for broke,” one GOP strategist said. “This is a very risky choice.”

The McCain campaign professed no concern about Gov. Palin’s experience. Senior strategist Steve Schmidt said she is “one of the most exceptional governors in the country” with reform credentials that fit perfectly with Sen. McCain’s message. “We are happy to have that debate with the Obama campaign and we’ll win the argument with the American people,” Mr. Schmidt said. “By any objective measure, Gov. Palin is more qualified for the presidency than Barack Obama.”

SNIP

Now the pundits are weighing in and many Conservatives and most of the Republican Party faithful  are all agog over McCain’s choice of VP.

Let me see how this all stacks up.  No experience. Last job before Governor of Alaska was mayor of a village with fewer people than most malls in the lower 48 on any given Saturday.  Governor of a state with more caribou than people.  In other words a complete unknown.  So this is the downside.

A woman.  Supports gun rights. Is anti-abortion.  Did a mention the woman thing? She’s young and McCain has a serious heart condition and he’s 72 years old. (Makes you wonder why there isn’t a physical requirement for the office of POTUS doesn’t it)  Did I mention the woman thing?  This is the upside.

Bottom line McCain chose Palin because she’s a woman and for no other discernible reason.  He could have gotten male running mates with more experience, better track records on abortion, and long time gun supporters, but that was the catch, they are male.

McCain and company rolled the dice and decided they wanted to appeal to all those disgruntled Fem-Nazis who think the sun rises and sets in Hillary Clinton’s eyes.  It’s a calculated political gamble that hopes to secure a few million or a few thousand female votes in some swing states where McCain is in trouble.

Do I think it will work?  Yes I do because the old saw about a ‘woman scorned’ is a true one and many of Hillary’s supporters will see this as an opportunity for some payback.  Sure they’ll have to hold their nose when they votes Republican, but after all they’re Dum-u-crats and they’ve been holding their noses for years.

Does any of this make me change my mind about McCain?  No I’m still not voting for POTUS in 2008.

One more note on the woman thing.  Recently I saw (Of course I can’t find the article now) where women who were in no danger of physical harm were even more inclined to ‘get even’ or ‘get payback’ from someone than men were.

Pakistani lawmaker defends honor killings

Pakistani lawmaker defends honor killings

Tribesmen bury five women alive for wanting to choose their own husbands

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - A Pakistani lawmaker defended a decision by southwestern tribesmen to bury five women alive because they wanted to choose their own husbands, telling stunned members of Parliament this week to spare him their outrage.

“These are centuries-old traditions and I will continue to defend them,” Israr Ullah Zehri, who represents Baluchistan province, said Saturday. “Only those who indulge in immoral acts should be afraid.”

The women, three of whom were teenagers, were first shot and then thrown into a ditch.

They were still breathing as their bodies were covered with rocks and mud, according media reports and human rights activists, who said their only “crime” was that they wished to marry men of their own choosing.

Zehri told a packed and flabbergasted Parliament on Friday that Baluch tribal traditions helped stop obscenity and then asked fellow lawmakers not to make a big fuss about it.

Many stood up in protest, saying the executions were “barbaric” and demanding that discussions continue Monday. But a handful said it was an internal matter of the deeply conservative province.

“I was shocked,” said lawmaker Nilofar Bakhtiar, who pushed for legislation calling for perpetrators of so-called honor killings to be punished when she served as minister of women’s affairs under the last government.

“I feel that we’ve gone back to the starting point again,” she said. “It’s really sad for me.”

SNIP

This is what were dealing with folks!  We are dealing with barbarity that has not been seen in the Western World for centuries.  (Even the Communists and Nazis during WWII in most cases made sure the people in the burial pits were dead before they covered them up)

Now we have people in Pakistan who allegedly educated and know this is the 21st century who condone the barbaric practice of ‘honor killing’ as a ‘centuries old tradition’ that he would continue to defend.

Make you wonder if ‘ritual cannibalism’ were a ‘centuries old tradition’ in the world of Islamic Moon-Bats if he would defend that, as well.  I’m betting he would because that’s the way the Islamic mind works!

All this makes you wonder how the Islamic Moon-Bats and the ‘useful idiots’ who support them can defend anything about Islamic dogma and the teaching of that old pedophile Muhammad.

We’ll Have Riots Either Way

We’ll Have Riots Either Way

This is just a little op/ed piece of mine.  I’ve recently been in the habit of making predictions about the 2008 election for POTUS.  So here’s my next prediction.

‘Barack Hussein Obama’ loses the election to John McCain.  We’ll have riots because the blacks and ‘useful idiots’ will once again say the election was stolen.  Of course MSM will downplay all this and blame it on other factors.

‘Barack Hussein Obama’ wins the election over John McCain.  We’ll have riots because the blacks and ‘useful idiots’ will be partying hardy as they celebrate the election ‘of one of their own’.  Of course MSM will also downplay this and blame it on other factors.

So win or lose with ‘Barack Hussein Obama’ we’re going to have riots.

Color me not impressed.  McCain choose her as a sop to the Fem-Nazis and he hopes to the Conservative Wing of the Republican Party and not on qualifications.  However if you had to be qualified for the office of POTUS neither John McCain of ‘Barack Hussein Obama’ would be where they are today.

Comcast to limit customers’ broadband usage

August 29th, 2008 . by Basti

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Comcast Corp, the largest U.S. cable operator, said on Thursday it will cap customers’ Internet usage starting October 1, in a bid to ensure the best service for the vast majority of its subscribers.

Comcast said it was setting a monthly data usage threshold of 250 gigabytes per account for all residential high-speed Internet customers, or the equivalent of 50 million e-mails or 124 standard-definition movies.

“If a customer exceeds more than 250 GB and is one of the heaviest data users who consume the most data on our high-speed Internet service, he or she may receive a call from Comcast’s Customer Security Assurance (CSA) group to notify them of excessive use,” according to the company’s updated Frequently Asked Questions on Excessive Use.

Customers who top 250 GB in a month twice in a six-month timeframe could have service terminated for a year.

Comcast said up to 99 percent of its 14 million Internet subscribers would not be affected by the new threshold, which it said would help ensure the quality of Internet delivery is not degraded by a minority of heavy users.

U.S. Internet subscribers are typically not aware of any limit on their Internet usage once they sign up to pay a flat monthly fee to their service provider.

As Web usage has rocketed, driven by the popularity of watching online video, photo-sharing and music downloading services, cable and phone companies have been considering various techniques to limit or manage heavy usage.

But Comcast has come under fire from a variety of sources for its network management techniques.

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission investigated complaints by consumer groups that it was blocking peer-to-peer applications like BitTorrent, and earlier this month ordered Comcast to modify its network management.

Comcast has said that by the end of the year it will change its network management practices to ensure all Web traffic is treated essentially the same, but has also been exploring other ways to prevent degradation of its Internet service delivery.

One consumer group said while Comcast’s new 250 GB limit was “relatively high,” it could eventually ensnare customers as technology progresses.

“If Comcast has oversold their network to the point of creating congestion problems, then well-disclosed caps for Internet use are a better short-term solution than Comcast’s current practice of illegally blocking Internet traffic,” said S Derek Turner of Free Press, a Washington, D.C.-based consumer advocacy group that filed a complaint about Comcast’s network management practices earlier this year.

The Philadelphia-based company is not alone in trying to come up with ways to limit heavy Internet usage.

Time Warner Cable Inc, the second-largest U.S. cable operator, said in January it would run a trial of billing Internet subscribers based on usage rather than a flat fee.

Comcast spokesman Charlie Douglas said Comcast was also considering so-called consumption-based billing, but no decisions had been made.

I’m a subscriber to Comcast and let me tell you this does not set well with me at all!  Yes I know the ceiling is set high and few will go over it, but that’s not the point!

The point is about over-selling the service you provide!  This is like selling 500 tickets on a plane that can only accommodate 300.  This is like selling 100, 000 tickets to concert in a venue that can only accommodate 80,000.

Comcast still regularly runs commercials that urge people to sign up for Internet service.  Excuse me, but if you already have a full boat why are you urging others to get on the boat?  Maybe Comcast should buy a bigger boat, rather than attempt to crowd more people on the boat they have.  Or if the boat is full stop selling tickets to get on the boat.

IMO, Comcast would have been better off to have upgraded their Internet services, instead of getting into the phone business.

And last, but never least I don’t like being told there is a limit on anything I buy or use and you’re going to punish me if I exceed that limit.  It’s that old ‘Rebel’ mentality in me that rebells when I’m told this.

GOP Platform Draft: Global Warming is Man-Made

GOP Platform Draft: Global Warming is Man-Made

CNSNews.com) – A final draft of the Republican Party platform includes a first-ever plank on global warming that says human activity has contributed to climate change.

“The same human activity that has brought freedom and opportunity to billions has also increased the amount of carbon in the atmosphere,” the draft reads. “Increased atmospheric carbon has a warming effect on the earth.”

The GOP platform was approved by a 112-person platform committee in Minneapolis, Minn., late on Wednesday and will likely be ratified at the Republican National Convention on Monday.

Conservative experts on global warming told CNSNews.com on Thursday that while they are not surprised that the 2008 platform contains a plank asserting the existence of global warming, they think it was inserted to reflect McCain’s views and does not reflect the thinking of most Republicans.

“I am not surprised that it’s a plank in the platform, because that’s part of McCain’s platform, but it’s disappointing, because it’s an example of Republicans playing ‘me too’ rather than leading,” Ben Lieberman, a senior policy analyst at the conservative Heritage Foundation, told CNSNews.com on Thursday.

Myron Ebell, director of energy and global warming policy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told CNSNews.com, “I wouldn’t say there has been a shift just within the party. The platform has just been designed to reflect the views of the nominee.

This is another good reason to just not vote for POUTS in 2008.  On the one side you’re got a smarmy never-was who has wannabe aspiration’s of being the big dog Socialist on the block.  On the other side you’ve got an over the hill RINO who’s decided if you can’t beat them, join them.

You know why we’re limited in these two choices (There really isn’t any choice at all) for POTUS in 2008?  Because the powers that be has mandated that these are the two individuals that will be the choices for the American voter in 2008.  I don’t personally know anyone who’s top choice for candidate for POTUS was John McCain or ‘Barack Hussein Obama’.  These two candidates were selected by the powers that be and they were selected a long time ago.  What the American voter wants doesn’t figure into the equation.

We the American people are soooo screwed!

Residents lined up for jobs at Howard Industries

Residents lined up for jobs at Howard Industries

LAUREL – About 30 cars were lined up in front of Howard Industries’ Laurel plant today filled with people looking for jobs.

An estimated 350 workers are being held at an undisclosed location following an early morning raid Monday on Howard Industries that officials say is the largest round-up of its type in Mississippi in recent years.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency said the 350 employees at a Howard Industries plant in Laurel are in the country illegally.

Federal warrants were issued at the plant early Monday and also at the corporate headquarters in Ellisville.

Shantay Holles, 26, of Heidelberg said she used to work at Howard Industries as an electric tester but was fired last year. She said she is applying today because she heard on the news about the ICE raid.

“That’s all they would hire – Mexican, Mexican, Mexican!” Holles said.

Samantha Stevens, 18, a 2008 graduate of Heidelberg High School, said she couldn’t find a job and she is glad the ICE stepped in.

“We were here first. It’s not fair for them to have a job,” Stevens said.

This once again puts lie to the old saw, ‘Americans’ won’t do these jobs’.  What this really means is Americans won’t  work for ’slave wages’ because we know we don’t have to.  On the other hand the ‘illegals’ will work for a pittance and be glad to get it.  Now we’ve all heard about how that without the ‘illegals’ many jobs just won’t get done.  I say if companies won’t pay a decent wage to Americans for doing these jobs, then we don’t need these jobs done.

It is not in the best interests of of the American labor force or the nation as a whole to employer non-Americans in any job!his pretty much puts lie to the old saw of ‘Americans won’t work these jobs’.
