Is Violent Reputation Hurting N’Orleans?    NOLA is a septic tank with the lid off and its always been that way!  Andrew Jackson made scathing comments about NOLA when he was there and nothing has changed.  See this attached headline  NOPD Struggling to Reinvent Itself

Birdwatcher Who Killed Cat Flees Texas    I don’t like cat killers or birds either unless they’re raptors.

School to Perform Play NAACP Had Opposed    I must have missed the part where the US Constitution was amended and the NAACP was made the final authority on what can be seen and heard.

Castro Warns Chavez About U.S.-Backed Assassination Attempts…     Well Chavez might have some concerns here, however if we hire bumbling Mafia hit-men and attempt to use exploding cigars like we have done in the case of Castro, Chavez has nothing to fear.  No you need highly qualified ‘free agents’ to do a proper job when you’re hiring assassins.

Hotel Mogul Threatens to Sue over Blown Hurricane Forecasts…   A lawsuit a day keeps the lawyers happy.

‘Snooty’ bankers blamed for crisis…     Having large sums of money or handling large sums of money does not make you clever, this a mark of the ‘new rich’.  The ‘old money’ is now circling the herd waiting to snap up the weak and the faltering.  This happened in 1929 and its happening today.

Christmas tree at Missouri State University — Back Up…     I’m always baffled by this anti-Christmas b/s coupled with this ’sensitivity issue’.  How does Christmas every year sneak up on those who don’t like Christmas or are these people just professional whiners who glory in their 15 minutes of fame each year.  What is there to be sensitive about in the first place unless you feel some-sort of guilt over something that has been some 2000 years in the making.  Or maybe Christmas is a ‘Stealth Holiday’ that just suddenly appears with no warning!

Pope blames atheism for world’s worst woes…     I’m a great student of history and I don’t recall atheists burning people at the stake, lopping off the heads of people, disemboweling people, or using other inventive forms of torture in order to force others to worship what they don’t believe.  Yes the Nazis and Commies did all those things and more, but they weren’t really atheists.  Nazis and Commies replaced higher power religion with worship of the state and state figures.  No it takes real hidebound religious people of the old school to institutionalize the ‘convert or die edict’.

Giuliani Ad Paints Dems As Tax Hikers     The RINO is correct, however he’s no better and might even be worse.

More States Debate End to Blue Laws

Thumbnail Sketch of Blue Law History

BLUE LAWS OVER TIME

How blue laws, which restrict what people and businesses can do on Sundays, have evolved:

• 17th century:The term was first used in Connecticut and came from the blue paper on which the laws were printed. Sunday was to be a day of rest and worship. Outlawed behaviors included drunkenness and excesses in dress.

• 18th century:After the colonies broke from British rule, states fashioned their own laws dictating Sunday behavior.

• 1789:President George Washington, heading to church in New York, was charged with violating a blue law in Connecticut that banned unnecessary walking or riding.

• 19th and 20th centuries:The prohibition movement brought more restrictive laws, including bans on cigarette sales and entertainment, such as books, plays and films.

• 1961:The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the right of states to enact blue laws so long as their purpose was not religious.

You tell me how any ‘blue law’ isn’t rooted in religion?  The ‘Prohibition Act’ was firmly rooted in religion although the fiction has been maintained that it wasn’t.  Just listen to many of the religious leaders of that time and you’ll see what I mean.  I maintain as long as you aren’t abusing someone else, forcing someone else, or otherwise coercing someone else you should be free to do what you like.  However we are always faced with either religious leaders, political leaders, or the nanny staters who want to force others to do what they say.  It takes the arrogance of a God-like figure to force your agenda on others simply because you think you know what is best for all of mankind.

Clinton Urges Sweeping Action on AIDS     And the band plays on.

Lower Cholesterol May Not Reduce Strokes     As far as I’m concerned the ho0-haw about cholesterol was ‘invented’ so doctors could be sure of putting their children through Yale and Harvard.

Ah, global warming!

One of the purposes of the climate uproar is so  people’s attentions will be diverted from the ‘real issues’.  You know the ‘real issues’,  high taxes, poor services, illegals by the bus load, and the all persuasive corruption of politicians aided and abetted by multi-national companies who are only interested in increasing the bottom line.

Follow the Leader

Quote:  “Ron Paul’s message of freedom is a uniting message. Look him up on youtube.com. His campaign is on a momentous upswing that is garnering solid support (no soft-money). Honesty in government is what we the people desire and will be the first step in restoring our ailing state and republic”.

Maybe no ’soft money’, but a lot of ’soft heads’.  (If you remember your fairy-tales you remember what happened to those who followed the ‘Pied Piper’ and his real life look-a-like Hitler)

Serbia pins blame of any Balkan flare-up on US    The Russians are to blame for most of the so called unrest.  Remember if Russia had not went to the aid of Serbia who had allowed war-like acts to be launched from its soil into Austria-Hungary WWI would not have happened or at least not in 1914.

Is God Using NAFTA Superhighway to Stop Homosexuality?

Quote:  “A number of Christians have come to believe, because of recent prophecies, dreams, and visions, that I-35 is the highway spoken in Isaiah 35, verse 8: “And a highway will be there, it will be called the way of holiness.”
Man am I glad I never caught any religion!

Forget the green technology - the hot money is in guns     When Mr. Maxim was in the UK years before WWI he lamented that he couldn’t make any money with his inventions.  Someone advised his to invent something that the European tribes could use to slaughter each other in greater numbers.  Mr. Maxim did just that, he invented the Maxim Machine-gun.

Minorities

Minorities

We need to show more sympathy for these people.
* They travel miles in the heat.
* They risk their lives crossing a border.
* They don’t get paid enough wages.
* They do jobs that others won’t do or are afraid to do.
* They live in crowded conditions among a people
who speak a different language.
* They rarely see their families,
and they face adversity all day every day.

I’m not talking about illegal Mexicans;
I’m talking about our troops!

Doesn’t it seem strange that many Democrats and Republicans are willing to lavish all kinds of social benefits on illegals, but don’t support our troops and are now threatening to defund them?

Pregnant Woman Stun-Gunned In Ohio

OFFICIAL USE OF FORCE POLICY OF THE TROTWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT.   I’ll admit that this woman sounds a bit off the wall, however did she need stunned?  I don’t thing so.  I see this as just another case of a cop overreacting and reaching for the stun gun.  Some however seem to think that cops can use Tasers/stun guns at when ever they feel like it.  This cop was in no danger and neither was anyone else!

Rodney King Shot, Wounded In California   Not to worry it wasn’t fatal.

Did Missing Co-Ed Lead Double Life?    You read about people who go missing all the time, however you don’t know as Paul Harvey is fond of saying, ‘the rest of the story’.

Luck Runs Out On $1M Lottery Winner    You have got to be kidding me!

Database Flags Barred Gun Buyers    You want a Saturday Night Special or a full rock and roll MP-5 you don’t have to go to Joe’s Gun Emporium as there are millions of illegal weapons out there that can be had for a few hundred dollars.  Gun laws only keep the honest, honest and have no effect on those who don’t give a damn about gun laws or any other laws for that matter.

TSA wants to require birthdate, gender to purchase airline tickets; background checks…     So telling the TSA you you’re female and born on 8/17/74 is going to make things more secure and clear up mistakes?  More and more this country reminds me of the USSR when Stalin was running the show.  How long is going to be before the Fed’s will want ‘internal passports/visas’ in order to travel any where by any means?

IMUS BASHERS FACE VENGEANCE…     I’m much in favor of vengeance.  Vengeance has a sweet taste that can’t be duplicated.

Protests Grow Over Chavez Referendum…     If you were a company man in the steel mill I worked in you could get away with either having the company angry with you or the union angry with you, but God help you if both were angry with you at the same time.  And that my friends is what is going to happen with Chavez in the near future.  When the people of Venezuela have had enough and the international community have had enough, its bye, bye, Chavez.

Pope invites senior Muslims to Vatican meeting…     I would bill such a meeting as ‘Demi-Gods Are Us’.

Hurricane center inflating storm count?…     Got to ‘pump up the volume’.

U.N. Paints Grim Portrait of al-Qaida Threat     First of all the UN is filled with nations that support terrorists and now the UN ‘paints a grim portrait of al-Qaida threat’?  Perhaps if the UN had a real ‘housecleaning’ and barred all nations that in the least support terrorism there would be a greatly reduced threat.  In other words there is no WOT just like there is no WOD!   It’s all hype and glitter for the foolish and gullible to consume.

Many Illegals Just Fly into U.S.     So the TSA wants your gender and DOB when you buy an airline ticket!  Never mind that illegals just buy a ticket in BFE fly here and never leave!

Red Wine Component Packed in a Pill     This might make the teetotalers happy, but I doubt it.

‘Green’ Gifts From Watt-Killer to Zipcar     Everything eventually ends up in a landfill or an incinerator.  This even applies to humans, but we call those landfills ‘cemeteries’.

Health and safety killjoys force Santa to wear a seatbelt in his 5mph sleigh     The ‘Nanny State’ strikes again!  (I have it on good authority that places over 3 foot tall and all standing water over 3 inched deep will soon be banned.  In addition studies are underway to determine how to replace all sharp objects with blunt ones)

McCain blames Rise of Hitler on Ron Paul

Quote:  “In a new low of despicable looniness, at the Republican debate in St. Petersburg, John McCain equated those Americans who want to stop militarily occupying Iraq with Hitler-enablers. He actually said that, saying that it was ‘isolationism’ of a sort that allowed Hitler to come to power.”
Can anyone deny that if the US, the UK, France, Poland, etc had moved on Germany in the very early 30,s that WWII as we know it been could have been avoided?  There might have been a localized conflict, but nothing on the scale that did happen.  The same is true of Japan and Italy in the very early 30’s.  Isolationism has not been possible in the world since the invention of the airplane and other means of rapid transport.  We can not as much as we might like to go back to the 19th century.  As I’ve said nature abhors a vacuum and if the US were pull back and abdicate its place as a ’super power’ something else will rush in to fill that vacuum and thats something would not bode well for the US or the rest of the free world.  R/P and his pack of flaming dingbats would have you believe that the US can return to isolationism and that folks is a damned lie!

ECB To Print More Money Out Of Thin Air     Following the policy of the US I see.

The truth about global warming - it’s the Sun that’s to blame     I still chuckle about the comment a ’so called expert’ made about the sun.  He cautioned against using to much ’solar power’ as there was only so much sunlight to go around.

Immigration To U.S. Highest In History

Immigration To U.S. Highest In History

There’s a good reason immigration dominated the Republican debate.

This nation of immigrants has never seen so many people immigrate here during any 7-year period as have come to the U.S. since 2000, according to a new study reported by the New York Times. And more than half of those coming during that period are illegal.

One in eight people living in the U.S. is an immigrant, the survey found, for a total of 37.9 million people - the highest level since the 1920s.

The Center for Immigration Studies, which advocates reduced immigration, put the study together from census data. These are folks with an ax to grind, sure, but the Times notes that even those who doubt some of the study’s conclusions don’t question its methods of data analysis.

(Highlight is mine)  If this is such a vile, evil, despicable nation why are so many moving here and more than half of them are illegal?  I say again, “There is not room for the whole damn world in the USA and we had better put a stop to this, ASAP!  We have no control over who comes into to the USA and once they get legal or not it is nearly impossible to kick them out!”

STAR TREK

The Syrian Ambassador to the UN had just finished giving a speech, and walked out into the lobby where he met President Bush.

They shook hands, and as they walked the Syrian said, “You know, I have just one question about what I have seen in America”.

President Bush said, “Well, anything I can do to help you, I will.”

The Syrian whispered “My son watches this show ‘Star Trek’ and in it there is Chekhov who is Russian, Scotty who is Scottish, Uhura who is Black and Su lu who is Chinese, but no Arabs.”

“My son is very upset and doesn’t understand why there aren’t any arabs on Star Trek.”

President Bush laughed, leaned toward the Syrian Ambassador, and whispered back, “It’s because it takes place in the future.”

Expert: U.S. Attack on Iran Would Have Terrible Consequences

Experts said the same thing in 1938 when Hitler was clearly planning on going to war. You would think that appeasement and peace in our time would have a bad odor after Munich and what happened in 1938.  However it seems like most things appeasement and having peace in our time while screwing the future have made a stunning come back.

U.S. 4th-Grade Readers Not Improving     Maybe they’ll do better if we stop using corporal punishment and Tasers on them.(See below)

The Carbon Credit Enslavement System     We can protest until the cows come home and we aren’t going to win.  The global warming pundits (Green on the outside and Red on the inside) are going to have their way.  They are going to have their way because they are well organized, well funded, and they keep telling the same lie over and over again.

The Precedent for the Ron Paul Dollar     Once upon a time everyone and his left-handed brother issued currency in what is now the USA. (See Articles of Confederation that preceded the adopting of the US Constitution for further details)  That of course led to chaos on scale that doesn’t need explaining.  That’s why only the US Mint can issue legal currency in the USA today.  However the ‘Paullies’ don’t bother to tell you this or their level of ignorance is higher than I thought.

Will the nanny statism never stop?

Will the nanny statism never stop?

Lawmakers To Consider Spanking Ban

Nurse Wants State To Outlaw Corporal Punishment

BOSTON – Lawmakers on Beacon Hill are set to consider a proposed ban on spanking children in the commonwealth.

NewsCenter 5’s Shiba Russell reported that the issue is set for debate at a Statehouse hearing Wednesday morning.

The Boston Herald reported that State Rep. Jay Kaufman filed the spanking ban petition at the request of an Arlington, Mass., nurse who wants Massachusetts to become the first state in the country to stop corporal punishment.

If this proposal does become law and parents are caught hitting their children who are under the age of 18, they could be charged with abuse or neglect.

The question is will ‘nanny statism’ never stop?  The answer is a resounding NO!

The ‘nanny state’ will continue to exert more and more control over the day to day lives of people as long as people allow it to do so.  Nature arbors a vacuum and when a vacuum is allowed to exist something will rush in to fill that vacuum.

Child care like so many things in the present day should be the exclusive responsibility of parents, however many parent don’t want to be bothered.  Sent the child to day care, send the child to camp, sent the child to school, let the state be ‘In loco parentis’.

As for corporal punishment I support it.  Of course I don’t mean beating the child half to dead or anything approaching it.  However there is nothing like a swat on the butt to make a child realize they have finally stepped over the line.

There is precious little parental discipline around these days to begin with and removing this last ditch tactic bodes ill for all concerned.  You would think with vandalism, hooliganism, or as the Brits say ‘yobbish behavior’ on the rise more discipline is required not less.

However we are beset with the screeching of shrinks, teachers, and many in government who seem to want to let children do as they please until they draw a stick figure with a gun, use their fingers as mock guns, or utter the word ‘noose’.  Then the response of government/schools it to either expel the child from school or call the cops who then use a Taser on the child.

Run this through your head the next time you’re just sitting around doing nothing.  You have to have a license to operate a car, a boat, a plane, carry a concealed weapon and  100 other things.  Your car, boat, plane, house, must all be registered with the appropriate people.

All of the things I have listed pale in importance with having a child!  Anyone given the right age group can have as many children as they want and no license is required!  Just pop’m out and let the state worry about their health care, discipline, education, etc, etc.

Maybe the state who seems to want to do every damn thing will soon address this problem by mandating who can have children and who cannot.  Don’t laugh, who would have thought it would be illegal to smoke outdoors in a park in 1960?  Cut to 2007 and this is SOP in many places!

Diverse Groups Rally at Peace Summit    Unimportant people attempting to affect important events.  What a waste of time and effort.

SEN. KENNEDY AGREES TO PEN MEMOIRS IN LUCRATIVE DEAL; payment was one of largest in history…     Hurry and buy this, you’ll never know when there will be a shortage of toilet paper.

Bin Laden plans message for Europeans…     Must gonna be sending a tape from his tomb in the Toro Boro caves in Afghanistan.

…Putin says USA meddling in election     All and sundry are allowed to meddle in US elections, so turn about is fair play.

Teacher in Sudan held over teddy bear named Muhammad; Faces 40 Lashes…     More from the cult ‘of peace and enlightenment’.

Illegal Immigrants Not Health Care Burden: Study     You expect illegals to tell you the truth and you do this study over the phone!  Yeah I can see how this study has a lot of veracity.

Higher Testosterone Lowers Male Death Risk     So being a ‘MAN’ is good for you!  This won’t set well with those who continue to try to turn men into ’sissies’!

4 ballot petitions clear 1st obstacle         It is very easy to impose taxes or pass laws banning this or that or allowing this or that.  However repealing a tax or overturning a law is next to impossible.  The criteria for doing so is stacked against those who wish to change or repeal laws.  It is set up that way so that citizens have as little impact on law making as possible

Ron Paul supporter hopes lightning will strike twice     Money does not translate into votes and R/P is going to find in the ‘real polls’ (Elections) he is very short on ‘real votes’.

Top ten terrible tech products - VISTA     VISTA is a classic example of fixing something that isn’t broken and in the process make it worse.  This is ’shade tree mechanic style’ at its best.  (Watch out for the replacement for VISTA its likely to be worse, as I’ve heard its being rushed into production due to the fact that VISTA is FUBAR)

US Home Prices Plunged 4.5% in Third Quarter     Home prices and real estate prices in the US have been overvalued for many years.  IMO, even after the recent drop in prices they are still overvalued!

Ahmadinejad offers to be an observer at US presidential election     See my earlier comment about how everyone in the whole world is allowed to meddle in US elections.  However if we in the US make one comment about any elections elsewhere the firestorm abuse starts.

Oil Doesn’t Come from Squashed Ferns and Fish??     A lot of what we have been ‘taught as gospel’ has recently been tossed in the ’round file’.  I wonder if this is another one of the things that we were ‘taught as gospel’ that turns our of have feet of clay.

$275 MILLION TO PLAY BASEBALL? WHEN IS ENOUGH, ENOUGH?     While this is a highly inflated salary for playing a game, tis but a mere bagatelle to what is paid to many CEO’s who do even less than sports figures.

They Live Taser Saucer To Become A Reality     Oh boy I can’t wait, flying tasers!  This will please all those who want to taser all and sundry.  (Note:  A 12ga shotgun loaded with #1 buck will fix this in a hurry)

Texan Kills Thieves: Hero or Homicidal?

November 27th, 2007 . by Basti

Texan Kills Thieves: Hero or Homicidal?

HOUSTON — The cha-chick of a shell entering a shotgun’s chamber rattled through the 911 line just before Joe Horn stepped out his front door.

Horn, 61, had phoned police when he saw two men break into his neighbor’s suburban Houston home through a window in broad daylight. Now they were getting away with a bag of loot.

“Don’t go outside the house,” the 911 operator pleaded. “You’re going to get yourself shot if you go outside that house with a gun. I don’t care what you think.”

“You want to make a bet?” Horn answered. “I’m going to kill them.”

He did.

Admirers, including several of his neighbors, say Horn is a hero for killing the burglars, protecting his neighborhood and sending a message to would-be criminals. Critics call him a loose cannon. His attorney says Horn just feared for his life.

Prosecuting Horn could prove difficult in Texas, where few people sympathize with criminals and many have an almost religious belief in the right to self-defense. The case could test the state’s self-defense laws, which allow people to use deadly force in certain situations to protect themselves, their property and their neighbors’ property.

Horn was home in Pasadena, about 15 miles southeast of Houston, on Nov. 14 when he heard glass breaking, said his attorney, Tom Lambright. He looked out the window and saw 38-year-old Miguel Antonio DeJesus and 30-year-old Diego Ortiz using a crowbar to break out the rest of the glass.

He grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun and called 911, Lambright said.

“Uh, I’ve got a shotgun,” he told the dispatcher. “Uh, do you want me to stop them?”

“Nope, don’t do that,” the dispatcher responded. “Ain’t no property worth shooting somebody over, OK?”

Horn and the dispatcher spoke for several minutes, during which Horn pleaded with the dispatcher to someone to catch the men and vowed not to let them escape. Over and over, the dispatcher told him to stay inside. Horn repeatedly said he couldn’t.

When the men crawled back out the window carrying a bag, Horn began to sound increasingly frantic.

“Well, here it goes, buddy,” Horn said as a shell clicked into the chamber. “You hear the shotgun clicking, and I’m going.”

A few seconds passed.

“Move,” Horn can be heard saying on the tape. “You’re dead.”

Boom.

Click.

Boom.

Click.

Boom.

I applaud the action this man took.  Some have said he’s a murderer, I say he’s a hero and we need more of this not less!
