A Small TiradeThis is another pet peeve of mine, misinformation by MSM.  I was reading my local rag yesterday when I came across this article that was bylined by AP.  The article is about troop morale in Iraq and some of the troops were saying how certain things lowered or raised their morale.

Quote: “A Bradley (tank) blew up.”  Unquote:  And there it is in all its glory, misinformation; note the parentheses, (tank).

First off a Bradley is not a tank.  A Bradley is is a ‘fighting vehicle or troop transport’.  A Bradley is lightly armored compared to a ‘tank’, has a 25MM chain gun as its main gun, a ‘tank’ has a 120MM gun as its main gun.  A ‘tank’ would be an Abrams M1A1 not a Bradley fighting vehicle.

What’s the difference you say?  The differences is its frigging WRONG information!  You would think by now that the media would know self propelled artillery, and fighting vehicles from tanks!  Sadly that’s not the case! 

Now if we carry this one step further we can ask what else in that article or any article for that matter is incorrect?  It’s all in the details folks!  You misspell a word, you box a number, you use the wrong word to describe an event, it all adds up!

My point is, if MSM can’t get the small details right what assurance do we have that they have anything right?  The example I’ve given is only the very tip of the iceberg, this sort of thing is widespread and apparently few give a damn that misinformation is widely disseminated.

Many people like to say that they always check their sources to be sure information is correct before they post it.  I say it really doesn’t matter where information comes from its all suspect and you have to read between the lines no matter what the source is.  MSM is not about being accurate, its about being first with the most.
