Obama: Bush Doesn’t Respect the Constitution

Obama: Bush Doesn’t Respect the Constitution

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday accused President Bush of failing to respect the Constitution amid the uproar over the firing of eight federal prosecutors.

The Illinois senator also took a swipe at embattled Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Obama has joined several other Democrats in calling for Gonzales to resign.

“I was a constitutional law professor, which means unlike the current president I actually respect the Constitution,” Obama told an audience at a campaign fundraiser. “I believe in an attorney general who is actually the people’s lawyer, not the president’s lawyer.”

Oh please spare me your false outrage.  Politicians in this nation have been trashing the Constitution before the ink was even dry on the signatures.  It had become a time honored tradition to circumvent, ignore, or misinterpret the Constitution for political gain.

As for the firings of the federal prosecutors I haven’t said much about that.  OK then here is the deal; the Fed prosecutors ultimate boss is the POTUS.  He can hire and fire at will and that’s all there is to it.  I don’t care how many were fired, who fired them, or why they were fired.  This is another tempest in a teapot, stirred up by the usual suspects.  (And what frigging difference does it make anyway?  NONE!)

I’m in no way defending Gonzales as he’s worthless as AG.  I don’t give a damn who or how he fired who!  What I’m upset with is his failure to do anything about the ‘illegal invaders’ in our country.  For that alone he should be drummed out of the bugle core and sent to Leavenworth for 15 – 20 @ hard labor. Well in retrospect what can you expect from a man with the surname of Gonzales?  It only stands to reason he’d want to let in more of his ‘beaner’ friends and relatives.

Hillary’s Bitter Pill: Women Can’t Stand Her

I’ve never met this harridan in person, nor do I want to do so.  However I know a pinch faced harridan who lusts for power and wealth when I see one and Hillary and Pelosi both fit this bill.  I’ve never voted for a women for anything and I don’t plan on changing that attitude.  Women don’t belong in politics and if you don’t like that statement, oh well I really don’t care that you don’t!

The Iraq Surrender Act of 2007

The Iraq Surrender Act of 2007

If President Bush refuses to sign any bill, for any purpose, until a clean military funding bill reaches his desk, he can effectively shut down the federal government.  Congress would be hamstrung, unable to pass any measure until the president once again picks up his pen.

Nothing would please me more than seeing the bloated bureaucracy know as the Federal government grind to a halt.  We have too much government in the first place and its not good government.  The Repub’s are bad enough, but what the Dem’s are doing is playing with the lives of our troops, for political gain.  We have to begin holding all politicians to a very strict standard and held accountable for actions taken only to further their own ’so called careers’.

All political positions in this nation were never meant to be careers in and of themselves.  Politicians were meant to be only ‘part time’ servants of the people’.  It should still be that way today.  We do not need ‘career politicians’, what we need is ‘part time servants of the people’!

I don’t want to hear how a man or a woman feels the need to serve the public 24/7/365.  That is is pompous and asinine lie told by those who want to grow wealthy and powerful at the expense of the taxpayer.

Condemned Killer Sets Cell on Fire

HUNTSVILLE, Texas —  A death-row inmate who had vowed not to go willingly to the death chamber set a fire in his cell Thursday, but when the time came, walked to his death without a fight.

I’d have let him burn and saved the state the cost of the execution.

Guantanamo Detainees to Play American Baseball

Guantanamo Detainees to Play American Baseball

President Bush believes baseball brings people together and helps explain Western values. Games will pit traveling American naval team against willing Muslim inmates.

El Dorado Hills, CA, March 29, 2007 — A source inside the Pentagon confirmed today that some of the prisoners held at Guantanamo have been offered the opportunity to participate in America’s favorite pastime: baseball. Their opponents will be American servicemen. The decision is part of an extensive new outreach effort to create better relations between the United States and the Muslim world.

According to independent publishing house Savas Beatie, LLC, the idea originated with Pete Merrick, a guard at Guantanamo and former high school baseball standout. Merrick got the idea from Gary W. Moore’s recently released book Playing with the Enemy: A Baseball Prodigy, a World at War, and a Field of Broken Dreams (2006). “If the Americans can teach captured Nazis how to play baseball and break through the ice, then why can’t we teach some of these detainees the same thing?”

Merrick raised the sensitive issue with his superior, “who was initially very cool to the idea,” explained the former shortstop. “But he eventually came around and kicked the suggestion upstairs.”

According to the Pentagon source, who spoke off the record, the journey “upstairs” made it all the way to President George Bush’s desk. The President quickly warmed to the prospects of improving relations (and the world’s view of Guantanamo) through baseball. The former owner of the Texas Rangers and Commander-in-Chief is an avid baseball fan and sometimes referred to in the White House as “the nation’s First Baseball Fan.”

President Bush often does things to honor his father, President George H. W. Bush, a former Navy pilot who played first base for the Yale Baseball Team. In an ironic twist, author Gary Moore’s father Gene was a baseball-playing sailor with major league aspirations. Playing with the Enemy explains how Gene, who was recruited by the Brooklyn Dodgers at the age of 15, overcame the stiff opposition of his superiors to teach the game of baseball to captured Nazis he and his teammates were guarding in Louisiana. The Germans fell into American hands when their submarine U-505 (currently on display at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry) was captured in 1944. Moore’s saga was sold to an academy award-winning Hollywood producer. The movie is scheduled to shoot this summer.

According to the Pentagon source, officials in both the White House and inside the Pentagon “vigorously protested” the President’s decision, but have since thawed to the idea, especially since some of the detainees themselves have expressed interest in the idea. “The President feels strongly about both the game and the prospects for improving relations. Is there a better way to do that than with a game of baseball?”

Author Gary Moore was dumbfounded when he “got the call.” As Moore told a local reporter, he was “honored the President is following in my father’s footsteps and using the greatest game ever invented to craft a public relations solution to Guantanamo. I wish the President luck in this endeavor, and would love to throw out the first pitch in the first game ever played between American Naval ballplayers and Islamic extremists.”

Training is set to coincide with the April 1 opening of the 2007 Major League Baseball season.

“If you rub it in both at home and abroad that you are ready for instant war… and intend to be first in and hit your enemy in the belly and kick him when he is down and boil your prisoners in oil (if you take any)… and torture his women and children, then people will keep clear of you.”

The World According to Gore

The World According to Gore

The truth can certainly be inconvenient–especially to a man busy casting himself as a latter-day messiah.  Earth to Gore: the position’s already been filled.  Thanks anyway.

I have no idea why people hold Gore up as some sort of latter-day messiah?  He’s never to my knowledge done anything to merit all this bowing and scraping.  He’s written some books or had them ghost written for him, but that means nothing.  Today in the day of the Internet anyone can publish any damn thing.  Like I say about the ‘Stealth Muzzie’ who is running for POTUS, “Show me credentials that are from a bona-fide source.  Don’t piss down the back of my neck and tell me its raining.”
